Disability Inclusion Fund

Founded by the Presidents’ Council on Disability Inclusion in Philanthropy, The Disability Inclusion Fund (DIF) seeds and expands the capacity of the disability justice movement by resourcing powerful grassroots organizations and leaders at the forefront of dismantling ableism through policy advocacy, community organizing, art, and narrative change.

Since the DIF’s inception in 2020, it has moved over $19 million in resources to organizations advancing disability justice and inclusion, including organized efforts to make voting and civic participation more accessible for folks with disabilities, expand access to essential social services, secure stronger legal protections, and increase visibility of disabled leaders across arts and culture.

In addition to its annual grantmaking, the Fund’s tailored capacity-building offerings, joy Grants to support the rest and renewal of disabled leaders, and collaborative grants to support groups teaming up on projects serving disabled communities, have collectively strengthened the infrastructure and resilience of disability justice ecosystem, advancing access, belonging, and collective power across movements.

The DIF prioritizes funding for: 

• Organizations that serve disabled communities, including Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC), queer and gender non-conforming disabled people.
• Intersectional, cross-movement and cross-issue work.
• Relationship- and power-building work that brings groups, leaders, movements, and communities together.
• Work that celebrates, creates, and uplifts people with disabilities in the arts, media, education, literature, and popular culture.
• Community organizing, civic engagement, advocacy, and/or policy work, which moves the ideas and practices of disability inclusion and justice forward.
