Elsa is a Senior Program Officer at Rose Community Foundation where she directs the Foundation’s Child and Family Development area. Named the 2000 Outstanding Professional in Philanthropy in Colorado, Elsa has more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She came to Rose Community Foundation from The Hunt Alternatives Fund where she served as executive director. In addition, she worked at The Women’s Foundation of Colorado and served as associate director of Mi Casa Resource Center, where she established and oversaw the Business Center for Women, a nationally recognized entrepreneur training program. In 2013, Elsa was appointed by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper for a second term as a commissioner for the Early Childhood Leadership Commission. She currently serves on the boards of the National Early Childhood Funders Collaborative and Tools of The Mind. She has received numerous awards, including: Outstanding Microenterprise Advocate from the Colorado Association of Microenterprise Initiatives; Spirit of Tlatelolco from Escuela Tlatelolco; the Madrina Award from Centro San Juan Diego; and the Katherine Archuleta Leadership Award from Latina Initiative. Elsa considers her most important accomplishments, however, to be her two daughters, Denise and Tiffany.
