Movements are powered from the ground up. That’s how they should be funded, too.
Since May 25, people in all fifty states and 60 countries have marched and rallied in defense of Black lives. This unprecedented wave of local action owes much to the tireless organizing of Black leaders and groups, especially in isolated or hostile places. Together with new leaders and groups that are emerging, they will be in forefront of sustaining this groundswell and transforming it into durable change.
We encourage all funders to identify opportunities to support Black-led organizations under their existing funding priorities AND to increase their overall giving to Black-led groups. Now is the time to think creatively about how your foundation can commit more of its resources to helping end systemic racism.
Consider giving to any of our amazing grantees who have been doing this critical work and continue to lead in this moment. Contact us if you are interested in joining one of our donor collaboratives and partnering with Borealis on this crucial work.
