Movement Infrastructure
Borealis Philanthropy’s strategic investment in the Movement Infrastructure seeks to build the power, innovation and resilience of social justice movements with a focus on advancing leadership, sustaining organizations and nurturing dynamic networks and ecosystems that advance social justice.
Democracies require the vitality and ingenuity of social justice movements to transform civil society to further shape justice and equality. This funding area builds upon our programmatic legacy and belief that social justice movements must have access to vital resources that generate new ideas, joy and creativity, sustainability and relationships to address the complex challenges of our times.
By supporting infrastructure building, we seek to ensure our movements’ wins, sustainability, and continued forward momentum, sustaining their strategic momentum across decades.
To date, Borealis has invested over $46 million in enabling frontline organizations to access the organizational strategists, political educators, field builders, and other variations of racial equity practitioners, strategists that foster durability. Our partners are coaching leaders, building capacity, and facilitating learning networks and feedback loops that strengthen organizations for years of powerbuilding—while also preparing them to withstand antagonism and repression.
