The vision of Trans Latin@ Coalition is to amplify the level of education and resources in order to promote the empowerment of transgender leaders. Trans Latin@ Coalition strives to achieve this vision through its nationwide advocacy efforts promoting the rights of transgender individuals, especially women of color.
In July 2015, board members came together and decided that the organization needed to move into direct service provision. Accordingly, as of February 2017, the organization established its Center for Violence Prevention and Transgender Wellness (CVPTW), which is a multipurpose community center where transgender and gender non-conforming people can come and access the services they need to improve their quality of life. They now provide transgender people with access to social support services (e.g., assistance with housing, referrals for healthcare services, workforce development) and education to improve self-sufficiency (e.g., English as a Second Language classes, basic finance and budgeting workshops).
Trans Latin@ Coalition is based in Los Angeles with membership in several states including Arizona, California, District of Colombia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Texas, and Washington.
TransLatin@ Coalition is fiscally sponsored by Special Service for Groups, Inc.
